On January 23rd. 2010, join us at the Hard Rock Café in Toronto for a very momentous
evening.
Firstly, Pay What You Want Online, will be declaring itself as a social enterprise
and will be rebranding to Pay WHO You Want Online with a new mission to generate
profit and awareness for artists and social issues affecting the community.
As a strong, forward-thinking, community minded organization we believe in giving
back to the rightful shareholders of the organization, such as the artists and the
community. Pay WHO You Want Online achieves our mission by empowering and encouraging
both musicians and fans throughout the world to “Make the Change” and to “Buy Consciously”.
This campaign launch is for Pay Who You Want Online’s first social initiative to
raise $100,000 for UrbanEx and Sketch to support youth at risk and homeless youths
using music and art.
UrbanEx as featured in the Toronto Star (http://www.thestar.com/living/article/661215),
is a local non-profit organization founded by Em Johnson and Co-directed by long
time independent artist advocate Alan Waugh.
Bringing awareness and advocacy for those at risk on our streets and in our communities,
Johnson and Waugh lead week long Excursions with Teams of youth, university students,
adults, social agencies, media, corporate executives, artists, into Toronto to experience
what it is like in other people's shoes. UrbanEx has gained attention on an international
front with people writing, calling and also coming to Canada to participate.
SKETCH, is a community arts initiative for youth age 15-29 who live street-involved
and homeless. SKETCH believes that the arts are catalysts for personal and social
change. They celebrate in the diversity, resilience and creative potential of youth
living homeless and recognize them as significant contributors to the making of
culture.
This is a FREE event for all to participate!
We encourage everyone to come out and have some fun, purchase a song or album download
to help us get the fundraiser going, and finally...we will make the big reveal as
to how artists from PWYWO can help with the fundraiser and WIN $10,000(CAD) IN CASH!!!
